Team SA have it's last match this Sunday 26 February 2012 at 21H00 against Russia
Team SA had its match against Australia on Sunday 19 February 2012 @ 1pm for us and 10pm for them.
The match was played on the map Operation Firestorm and this was the first map to be played with 2x jets, choppers and 3 tanks but only 1 jet and 1 tank were allowed to be active at anytime. Total ticket count per round was 200 per team.
On game day myself (Riaan “EasyKill” Vrey as manager) and Reinhardt “PeStil3nc3” van Rooyen (as captain) got together with Australia’s captain to arrange what servers we are going to play on. It was decided to have one round played on a USA server for them and one round on our MWEB sponsored UK server for us. Also it were decided that we will play on our UK server first with Australia being RUS and us being US. That meant that we would be RUS on their server and Australia US.
We also made use of only 10 of our 11 players in the team as our leader, Assassin’s latency playing with 3g was well over 400 and to high as both servers were not locally hosted. Assassin remained on Teamspeak with the team and lived the rounds with his team second by second.
We had a good strategy worked out by Sheraaz “ Zaarehs” Nunnian to get onto their back flag asap and bleed them with tickets. We really played a cat and mouse game as Australia had high ground advantage playing from on top of the buildings protecting their flags. This really worked well for Australia, but RSA decided to stay low and out of sight, and move in-between rubble, wrecked buildings and vegetation.
Australia had air superiority and kept our jet and chopper down at our base, they also did not allow us to take off, so the call was made to utilize the help of our aircraft players and move them into ground squads. This meant that we could keep the flags and bleed them.
First round we won 13-0 and second round 23-0 making it a match win with 36-0.
The second round we made a quick call to leave the jet and chopper when it got shot down and move the air players to ground units. This helped us maintain 3 of 3 flags 80% of the match.
The team was extremely happy with this win as we have felt all the time that we can take on the rest of the world but our connections were always be a problem but this time it was Australia that had the bad luck with 3 players dropping in the 2nd round.
A big thanks to all the team players AJ “Assassin” Herbst, Chris “Bloodslug” Hart, Helgard “Chaotic” van Rooyen, Daniel “Crincler” Towse, Kyle “Cromedome” Burton, Ricky “Jalgorty” Schlenk, Matt “Lt-Matt” Lennox, Reinhardt “PeStil3nc3” van Rooyen, Renier “Saberfox91o” van Rooyen, MJ “ Vermaak” Vermaak & Sheraaz “ Zaarehs” Nunnian for all the time and effort that they put into the game. Thank you to the team and their families that have to understand that we represent South Africa, and time practicing is critical to success.
Thank you for the tremendous support from our fan club, emails, SMS’s and phone calls. We appreciate the support from the community and well done to the one player alfonSo on clanbase that backed us with placing a bet on South Africa for winning. The odds was in his favour and he won 500euros.
Thank you Mind Sports South Africa for the opportunity to represent South Africa, thank you Colin Webster, you are doing a fantastic job out there and we will keep the wins coming for as long as we can! Thanks to Desmond Kurz from MWEB for the SA and UK servers as well as the accounts to help the players with pings and the TS server.
Our next match would be versus Russia and then we will have to see who makes it to the next round of competition.
Here is the links to the screenshots of each round.

Team SA's third match in the ClanBase NationsCup XV would have been Portugal but they are out due to not having enough players, so we have week off before it is going to be Team SA vs Australia.
The game is on for the week of 13 to 20 February but no date have been set for this match on Operation Firestorm. For match views join us on twitter while the match is going and get updates of the match.

Team SA had its match against Belgium on Sunday night 5 February 2012 @ 9pm for us and 8pm for them.
The match was played on the map Operation Metro. Total Tickets was 350 per team per round.
On game day myself (Riaan “EasyKill” Vrey as manager) and Reinhardt “PeStil3nc3” van Rooyen (as captain) got together with Belgium’s captain to arrange what servers we are going to play on. It was decided to have one round played on a Belgium server and one round on our MWEB sponsored South African server. Also it were decided that we will play on the Belgium server first with Belgium being RUS @ (A flag) and us being US @ (C flag). That meant that we would be RUS on our server and Belgium US.
We also made use of all 11 players in the team, we had no other option to make use of this method in both rounds as we had player’s lines disconnecting. In the first round we had 1 player’s line disconnect that left us with a disadvantage, even more disastrous, in the second round 3 players got disconnected. The first round on the international server we started of good until the disconnect for Cromedome (Team RSA main Medic) happened and that turned the whole round for us leaving us fighting back, changing kits to assist, but unfortunately we lost the round 0 -139.
We had our main medic player disconnect due to Telkom ADSL line drops, which left us with 7 players vs 8 players, we had to reposition and change a supportive player to stand in for the medical player that disconnected. Unfortunately, our supportive player were repositioned as a medical assistant, and then with no supportive players on the left flank, we got overpowered by the Belgium players. We had players on standby at all times, but it takes an estimate of 5 minutes to reconnect a new player, then connect and register UAC (Universal Anti Cheat) with the appropriate game code.
Once Team RSA were back up to 8 players, we managed to regroup, take back flag C and Middle flag B, but unfortunately in the end we ran out of tickets and time.
After round 1, we had a 10min brake so all players can connect on our server .
The second round got going and we started off fantastic. We managed to take flag A and flag B, and were busy moving to flag C, then disaster struck! As we had 3 players disconnected. Pestilence, Sabrefox and Cromedome and unfortunately it was 5 vs 8 players. Once again we had our reserves on standby, but we lost time to wait for their connections, and got pushed back losing flag B and A. When our reserves on standby connected, we managed to retake A, B and even flag C, we had all the flags, and were in control of the map. We setup defensive positions, but somehow they managed to take our back flag, and we had to fall back, everybody in the team was confused about how that was possible to come past the 3 covered areas with only 3 entrances covered by 8 players.
Due to this fall back strategy, we lost flag C, B and A. With the tickets in Belgium’s favour 78 (RSA) and 148(Belgium), Team RSA made a brilliant come back to take back all the flags and secure a victorious round of 15 -0. Unfortunately we lost the total game due to the ticket differences we suffered in the first round.
All in all it was a very big disappointment for Team RSA as we lost so many players during this game. Round 1 it was 7 vs 8 and Round 2 was 5 vs 8 in critical times. We will have to find a solution and look into these problems with SA local Telkom ADSL, as it is not stable, and very difficult to compete with disconnections. This is the 2nd time that Team SA is finding themselves in these disconnecting circumstances. We would like to put out a request to Telkom to try and assist our South African Online gamers.
I will however admit that the international player’s connections are very stable, and it doesn’t seem like the ping affected their gameplay as much as our South African members on international servers.
A big thanks to all the team players AJ “Assassin” Herbst, Chris “Bloodslug” Hart, Helgard “Chaotic” van Rooyen, Daniel “Crincler” Towse, Kyle “Cromedome” Burton, Ricky “Jalgorty” Schlenk, Matt “Lt-Matt” Lennox, Reinhardt “PeStil3nc3” van Rooyen, Renier “Saberfox91o” van Rooyen, MJ “ Vermaak” Vermaak & Sheraaz “ Zaarehs” Nunnian .
Thank you for the tremendous support from our fan club, emails, SMS’s and phone calls. We appreciate the support from the community.
Thank you Mind Sports for the opportunity to represent South Africa, thank you Colin Webster, you are doing a fantastic job out there!
Our next match would have been Portugal but they are disqualified as they never had enough players. Team RSA will face the Australians next, which will be a very tough challenge. But Team RSA is up for the challenge, and will be practicing very hard for the Clash of the Titans.
